How to Quickly Check If A Firmware Is Signed Or Not?

This tutorial aims to show you two methods to quickly check the state of an iOS firmware, via iPhoneGuide or IPSW app.

Step1: Download and install IPSW Go app on your iPhone. Run IPSW app, then you can see your iOS device’s model at the top of the screen, the content below shows all the iOS firmware.

Step2: If you’re checking the available firmware for your iOS devices, then the matching firmware will be shown in yellow. If you need to check firmware for other iOS devices, then download BMSSM app.

Step3: Checkbox in green means this iOS firmware is still signed and flashable. You may use it to upgrade or downgrade. If the checkbox in red, then this iOS firmware is unsigned by Apple.

For iOS users who have tried iPhoneGuide may know that is very easy to distinguish the signed and unsigned firmware from iPhoneGuide.

* You can go to iPhoneGuide web to check the available firmware by iOS device easily.

* Or, you can check the state of iOS firmware from iPhoneGuide app directly. iPhoneGuide Easy Flash will show you the available firmware for your iOS device automatically after you connect it to iPhoneGuide.

If you want to check the matching firmware for other iOS device, click Flash & JB -> Firmware. Then you can check the firmware by iOS device or by the iOS version.

You’re allowed to download all the iOS firmware no matter it is signed or unsigned. if there is a green dot after the firmware, that means this one can be used to flash or jailbreak. But if it shows white dot, then you can’t to flash or jailbreak this iOS firmware.
